Oak Under Stairs Storage

For a warmer, more traditional finish, we build under stairs storage entirely in solid oak — from shaker-style cupboard doors to open shelving that shows off the natural grain. Oak storage tends to suit period properties and homes with existing oak flooring, doors or staircases particularly well, since it lets the new storage blend seamlessly with what’s already there rather than standing out as a separate addition. We finish oak storage in either oil (for a natural, low-sheen look that’s easy to spot-refresh) or lacquer (more hard-wearing for high-traffic hallway use). As with our staircases, oak storage can be built to match whichever range and finish you’ve chosen for your staircase renovation, so the whole hallway reads as one cohesive piece of joinery. We do a lot of shaker style projects, but we can offer modern slab designs too or something bespoke to complement your internal doors.

Painted & Modern Options

If you’d prefer a lighter, more contemporary look, we also build under stairs storage in painted finishes – slab-fronted doors for a minimalist feel, or shaker doors for a more classic look with a painted rather than natural finish. Push-to-open fastenings and flush handles are popular for a clean, streamlined result in modern homes and new builds.
